Turin Lab: a national competition to design the corporate world
The Turin factory design, in collaboration with the Industrial Union of Turin, promotes competition "Prodotti Tipici Industrial design contest”.
Subscriptions are open to enter the first contest sponsored by Turin Lab, in collaboration with the Industrial Union of Turin, entitled "Industrial Products design contest". The goal of the contest, which will remain open until 14 October, and at the same time very ambitious: investigate the social dimension and symbolic kitchen . The contest is aimed at designing new objects, authentic, inspired by the warmth and tradition.
L ' initiative of the notice arises in a context of continuity compared to those who are the key principles of the philosophy of Turin Lab, whose flagship line-the "Industrial Food"-consists of products produced through the use of raw materials and semi-finished products already exist, using materials provided by partner attentive to environmental issues and involving companies of the Piedmont. design proposals received at the competition must therefore provide for the use of materials, technologies and its semi-finished products of companies selected by Turin Lab as a partner of the contest, in collaboration with the Industrial Union in Turin .
the notice is addressed to professional designers, but also students, who will compete in two distinct categories and will have the opportunity to participate individually or as a group.
a jury composed of some industry experts-from Industrial Union of Turin , by ADI (Associazione per il Disegno Industriale) Piemonte, Italy FabLab, Association Design Week Turin and from awarding authority itself – as well as one representative of each partner company of the competition, will decide a winner for each of the two categories in the competition.
The combination of award with the fifth edition of Design Week Turin, will give you the opportunity to see competition finalists showcased their projects right inside the event.
The most interesting ideas, further, will be selected with a view to implement the rapid prototyping and production (also limited). Products, once made, will be put on sale at the TO.LAB Design Store - has always been the official showcase of products of Turin Lab - and 42 Workshop located at the Italian Design Outlet of Santhià.
the main assessment criteria used by the jury will be in different percentages, the feasibility, appropriate and innovative use of materials, technologies and components, consistent with the philosophy and the spirit proposed by the competition and the intrinsic characteristics of the project as regards the originality, performance, content and its impact on the environment.
sign up is simple: the designers will be asked to present documentation that includes your registration card, the drawings of the project and the description of the concept, with its specific techniques.

Turin Lab
Torino Lab is the multidisciplinary design studio specializing in the use of raw materials of industrial origin for the realization of objects of daily use. Born in in 2009 the Piedmontese capital, by Maurizio and Fulvia Bazzano Berrino gained in field trials of the potential of these materials in alternative ambits, the design studio boasts among its partnership some important industries, including Buzzi Unicem Spa, Dr. Gallina Srl, SER Wax Industry Spa, which the supply of raw materials and semi-finished products necessary for the realisation of the projects.
Research and experiments carried out in this field came to life the catalogue "Industrial Products", products whose production is exclusive use of raw materials and semi-finished products already in existence, provided by partner attentive to environmental themes, passing for a short-processing chain that involves mostly companies in the Piedmont and the valorization of the local entrepreneurial fabric.
The network of Turin Lab related to Industrial Products now has 18 companies among retailers, companies and transformation partner companies producing raw materials, 80% of which are in Turin or in the surrounding areas.
